Connecting Series 2023/4

This collection encompasses 5 smaller series, each comprising of 6 paintings - Connecting to the Inner child - A series of paintings about connecting with the Inner Child, our creative, true self whose voice can get lost over time, and the Higher Self, allowing access to our intuition and self-guidance so that we can experience increased emotional well-being; Abstract Portraits - a series of small portraits taken from the Connecting series; Kintsugi series - As children we absorb information that can adversely affect our self-perception, which can result in seeing ourselves as "broken". The Japanese art of Kintsugi, repairing broken items with gold and silver seams, refers to the philosophy of accepting human flaws and fragility and presenting a unique individuality. The reference to this philosophy in this series relates to the fact that each person's journey and experience is unique and they can achieve wholeness through acceptance of human frailty and repairing their perception of their own value; the Bubble series - this series of paintings came from re-programming limiting beliefs from childhood. The Bubbles represent the fun, laughter and positivity felt as a young child when playing with a tube of bubbles and overcoming the limiting beliefs the young mind creates at that time; and the mini- kintsugi series - smaller versions of the original Kintsugi paintings.
